L.A. GUNS
line up: Philip Lewis (vocals)
Tracii Guns (guitar)
Mick Cripps (guitar/keyboards/vocals)
Kelly Nickels (bass/vocals)
Steve Riley (drums)
L.A. Guns is one of the more heavy glamrock bands from L.A.. The band is
founded in 1987 by guitarplayer Tracii Guns (ex-Guns 'n' Roses), but the main
attraction is singer/howling monkey Phil Lewis, known from the English band
Girl (with Def Leppard guitarplayer Phil Collen) and from his relation with
Britt Ekland. L.A. Guns plays music in style of Aerosmith, AC/DC and Motley
Crue. Not very original, but neither are Poison and Ratt, and those are
established American bands. The debut album, released in 1988 and recorded
without drummer Steve Riley (ex-W.A.S.P.) who first joined the band afterwards,
sells also good in America. This, despite the average production and the
average singing Phil Lewis. It seems only a question of time, before L.A. Guns
reaches the same delightful position as Ratt, Motley Crue and Guns 'n' Roses.
